Khalil Cotran comes with an extensive experience in Human Capital management and development across varied industries; Finance, Banking, Pharmaceuticals, Oil & Gas, and Academia in Europe, Middle East, Africa and GCC
Khalil is currently Special Advisor to President & Director of HR at St. George University, Beirut – Lebanon (Sep 2019 – Present). St. George University is a newly formed, university and is expected to commence operation in Beirut, Lebanon in October 2021. Khalil provides administrative advice and support to the Presdient regarding the establishment of the University. He also is the HR Director of the University
Prior to that (2016-August 2019) he lead a major consultancy project at Hikma Pharmaceutical – Amman, Jordan for establishing Talent Management Center of Excellence
Prior to that assignment he joined NBK Capital (National Bank of Kuwait) as the HR Managing Director in Kuwait (2007-2016).
Khalil joined Japan Tobacco International (previously R. J. Reynolds Tobacco International) as Vice President HR, in charge of the MENA region based in Geneva, Switzerland (1992-2007)
His professional experience in the Oil and gas sector started in 1986, where he worked for the Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) as Senior Management Consultant (1986-1992).
He was appointed Director for Health Systems Planning, a US Aid funded project, at the Lebanese Ministry of Health, Beirut, Lebanon between 1983 and 1983 and 1986).
Dr. Cotran started his teaching career as Assistant Professor at the University of Petroleum and Minerals, Mathematics Department, in Dharan, Saudi Arabia (1976-1978). He lectured at the School of Business & Management (AUB) from 1978 till 1986. He continued his teaching career in 2010 until present, lecturing in Human Resources at Executive MBA and Master of Human Resources programs at the American University of Beirut and at the Lebanese American University.
Dr. Cotran graduated with a Ph.D. in Statistics, concentration in Quantitative Management from University of Louisiana, USA.
